Prices, compared like for like

What a finished tooth actually costs.

Clinics advertise "implants from £450". That is a screw in the jaw. The tooth is not finished until an abutment and a crown are paid for as well, and a clinic quoting only the first looks two thirds cheaper than one quoting all three. So we add up all three, from clinics' own published price lists, and publish the range.

The number most price pages leave out

32clinics whose records we hold
14publish a list we could map onto comparable lines
6publish enough to price a finished tooth end to end

That last figure is the honest one. Most clinics here either publish no prices at all, publish only some of the components, or restrict their list to local patients holding a national insurance card — a list a British patient could not use. A range built from 6 clinics is worth something only if you know it came from 6.

What you are buyingRangeMedianClinics
One tooth replaced, zirconia crown£827 – £1,199£9316

Full arch on four implants£2,668 and £3,542 (too few for a range)2

What is in that price

A finished tooth, in this comparison, is three canonical lines added together — and a clinic advertising only the first looks two thirds cheaper than one quoting all three:

  • 1Implant fixture, placedThe titanium fixture and the surgery to place it, for ONE implant. Excludes the abutment and the crown. Where a clinic prices fixture and surgery separately, only lines that clearly cover both are mapped here.
  • 2Implant abutmentThe abutment / superstructure connecting fixture to crown. Excludes exposure surgery unless flagged.
  • 3Zirconia crown on an implantZirconia crown fitted to an implant.

A clinic is only counted where it publishes a price for every one of them. Where it prices some and not others we do not add up what is there and call it a total — the honest answer is that we do not know what that clinic charges for a finished tooth.

What we can and cannot re-check

Every price here was read from a clinic's own published list, and we re-read those lists automatically to catch a price that has changed. That re-read does not work everywhere. 45 of the 189 prices behind this page — about 24% — come from 3 clinics whose price pages build their tables in the browser, so an automated fetch of the page comes back with no prices in it at all. 1 of the 6 clinics in the range above is priced this way.

Those figures are not guesses: they were read off the page as a person sees it. But nothing automatic will ever confirm them again, so they are re-read by hand instead, and they are the part of this page most likely to go out of date without us noticing. We would rather tell you which part that is than quote a single confidence figure over the whole thing.

What these numbers are not

They are advertised prices, read from clinics' own public price lists on the dates shown, and they are not quotes. Travel2Doctor is not offering them. A real quote depends on an examination — how much bone there is, whether a graft or a sinus lift is needed, how many teeth are involved — and those can move the total substantially. Bone grafting and sinus lifts are deliberately excluded here, because most clinics price them separately and a basket including them would compare a straightforward case against a complicated one.

We do not name which clinic charges what. None of these clinics is a verified partner yet, and publishing a price against a named clinic we have not vetted is a claim about their commercial terms that we are not in a position to make. How we vet explains the bar.
